Van Horn has two grocery stores, Welsh's Village Market near the Ramada Inn, which has the lowest prices in town, and Frank's Supermarket near the center of town, who's motto is "beef is our specialty". It is also possible to buy non-perishable foods and many other useful inexpensive items at the Dollar General Store.

There are two hardware stores in Van Horn that charge about 20% more than the home improvement centers in El Paso. For all large quantities and purchases other than perishable food items Wal-Mart Supercenter and/or Lowe's Home Improvement Center near exit 34 on the east side of El Paso are the best choices. For $95.00 Lowe's will deliver anything to Lobo by truck.
